EDUCATION

· A graduate of Baccalaureate Degree preferably in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent)

· With valid Professional License (Passed Professional License Examination) or its equivalent in the country of origin (except for Saudi Arabian Citizen)

· With valid Saudi Commission for Health Specialties License (Category: Specialist)

B. WORK EXPERIENCE

· At least two (2) years related experience in an healthcare environment

C. TRAINING / SKILLS / COMPETENCIES

· Proficient in the use of MS Office and other software

· Proficient in Oral and Written English

· Patient care and support services

· Highly flexible, self-motivated, dynamic and enthusiastic

· With interpersonal skills and strong moral and ethics

· With valid Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training

3.0 MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

3.1 Under direct supervision of the Laboratory Head , the Clinical Laboratory Specialist runs the laboratory safely and efficiently. They take responsibility for all aspects of the laboratory, including equipment, employees, supplies, software, and documentation

Follows established procedures to perform routine and STAT clinical laboratory testing.

4.2 Follows established quality control procedures for all tests including initiation of remedial action in out of-control situations.

4.3 Performs all Hospital Information system (HIS) functions necessary to complete patient testing and specimen processing.

4.4 Participates in continuing education programs and consults current technical literature to keep abreast of changes in the field.

4.5 Promotes good public relations through productive and professional interaction with patients, physicians, and other hospital staff.

4.6 Assist in maintaining reagents and supplies inventories.

4.7 Maintains a clean and organized work area.

4.8 Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Laboratory Head .

4.9 Participates in proficiency testing events when requested to do so.

4.10 Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Laboratory Specialist.

4.11 Demonstrates proficiency in performing venipunctures, venipunctures, and capillary collection techniques.

4.12 Performs all routine maintenance procedures and calibration of clinical analyzers throughout the laboratory.

4.13 Performs and documents quality control according to clinical area guidelines and takes remedial action when necessary documents and alerts Section Leader to unresolved problems.

4.14 Participates in researching and developing new procedures.

4.15 Performs all preventive maintenance and quality control to prepare the laboratory for morning run.

4.16 Ensures the validity and accuracy of test results and maintains adequate Quality Control Measures for the section.

4.17 Guides and supervises Laboratory Technician.

4.18 Performs other related duties and activities as assigned by the department director/head.

4.19 Participate in the hospital’s quality and patient safety programs by implementing relevant policies and procedures, completing required department form and reports, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, and complying with approved standards to enhance the quality of services and ensure patient safety.
